Last May 14, 2025, our colleague Adrián Segura presented during the session Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the III Andalusian bioinformatics conference (JABI 2025) held in Málaga, the work entitled: ‘Consensus optimisation of multiple gene regulatory network inference techniques from a holistic perspective guided by the biological context of the data.’ as part of his PhD thesis.
On 13 May 2025, our colleague María del Mar Roldán attended the Market-X & Tech-X 2025 event in Valencia, organised by Gaia-X. During her presentation at the Agriculture Ecosystem Panel session, she presented the ÁGORA Datalab (https://agora-datalab.eu/) in the context of the EDAAn project: Towards the creation of the Federated Data Space of the Andalusian Agri-Food Sector. https://gaia-x.eu/market-x-tech-x-2025/
On 17 March, a working day focused on interoperability in the data spaces of the agri-food sector was held in Madrid, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) together with the Directorate General for Data of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, and in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA).The meeting brought together representatives of various projects and initiatives with the aim of promoting synergies, exploring shared use cases and establishing common lines of action to improve interoperability between data spaces. During the session, the importance of connecting these digital ecosystems to promote the digitisation of the agri-food sector, optimise resource management and move towards greater sustainability was highlighted.Among the participating projects were AgrospAI (University of Lleida), RuralTech (Seresco…
The University of Málaga (UMA) and the INNOVA IRV Innovation Institute have taken an important step towards the creation of a Co-Innovation Laboratory in Artificial Intelligence, following a strategic meeting held at the Accenture facilities in Málaga TechPark. The aim is to establish a collaborative space between science, technology and business to address, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the current challenges of artificial intelligence. During the conference, possible lines of collaboration between UMA research groups and the business sector were explored, as well as opportunities for participation in projects with industrial impact. José F. Aldana, deputy director of ITIS UMA and director of ÁGORA Datalab (https://agora-datalab.eu/), participated on behalf of both entities, highlighting the value of knowledge transfer and open innovation. This laboratory aspires to become a benchmark in the responsible…
On 30 April, our colleague Antonio Manuel Burgueño defended his doctoral thesis entitled ‘MLOps applied to advanced remote sensing techniques’ under the supervision of José F. Aldana Montes and Cristóbal Barba González. The thesis, which obtained the international mention, was graded with the highest distinction: outstanding Cum Laude. The presentation and subsequent discussion were particularly interesting, and demonstrated the great work done by our colleague.Congratulations, AM!
Last 13th September took place the defence of the doctoral thesis of our colleague José Francisco Aldana Martín (Pepe) entitled ‘Automated Recommendation of Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithms Using a Knowledge-Based Approach’, under the supervision of María del Mar Roldán and Antonio J. Nebro Urbaneja. Both the defence and the subsequent discussion were very interesting and demonstrated the great work done by our colleague, which was rewarded with the International Mention and a grade of Outstanding Cum Laude. Congratulations, Pepe!
On July 18, 2024, José F. Aldana participated in the online seminar "Data Spaces and Their Applications in the Agri-food Sector," organized by Andalucía Agrotech EDIH and INNDIH - Valencia Region EDIH. José F.
