On Monday, May 20th, Professor Larysa S. Globa, Director of the Department ofInformation and Communication Networks at the Institute of TelecommunicationsSystems (National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv PolytechnicInstitute"), visited ITIS. During her visit, she presented various topics, including:Artificial Intelligence methods for big data processing. An approach to Big Data processing for Telecom operator (based on statisticsdata). Approach to traffic classification in 5G networks.Fuzzy Knowledge Base development for management of road traffic. Her PhD student, Yehor Zheliazkov, also contributed with a more applied talk titled:"Intelligent lighting system for comfortable living of the older people." The conference was broadcast online. On Monday, May 6th, Dr. Oleg Mirzov, Systems Architect and Lead Developer of Core Services at ICOS Carbon Portal (https://www.icos-cp.eu/), visited ITIS. Last February 2024, open house events were held to commemorate the closure of the EnBiC2-Lab project. This multidisciplinary project has brought together the expertise of various UMA groups in areas such as soil, water, flora, fauna, satellites, air, supercomputing, and data science, with the purpose of investigating the effects of climate change on various natural environments of great relevance. The Khaos group has led this project, collaborating closely with each of the university groups, developing workflows and web tools that facilitated the work and analysis of results in the different areas of the project. Successfully concluded, the project has generated a variety of highly useful tools and scientific articles that reflect the results and knowledge generated throughout its development. Last June 5th. Visit of Nataliia Kuznietsova, Professor Assistant at the mathematical methods of system analysis chair NTUU "KPI" IASA with the ERASMUS+ KA107 - INTERNATIONAL CREDIT MOBILITY. A meeting was held with her in which doctoral students had the opportunity to teach and discuss the progress of their research.

Last May 22nd to 24th, our colleague María Luisa Antequera had the opportunity to present the latest advances in the Environmental and Biodiversity Climate Change Lab (EnBiC2-Lab) project at The LifeWatch ERIC Biodiversity & Ecosystem eScience Conference in Seville, Spain.

Experts and developers from across the Semantic Web community are gearing up for an exciting hackathon event focused on addressing the challenges of federated querying. The event aims to identify and solve the difficulties associated with retrieving and integrating data from remote Knowledge Graphs using federated queries. Federated querying is an essential technology for the effective and scalable implementation of Semantic Web technologies. However, the dynamic nature of knowledge graphs, heterogeneity in terms of ontologies and vocabularies used in datasets, and the lack of FAIR metadata make federated querying over multiple knowledge graphs a challenging task. The Khaos Research group at the UMA is working on the design of a new alert system that will help detect possible anomalies in the behaviour of elderly people living alone. Leer Más.  

KHAOS has developed software that comprehensively compares the gene expression information produced in cancer patients. In this way, it is possible to better observe the response to treatment in patients. This is the first time that a genetic analysis tool has been made available to clinical specialists.

A group of rural organisations, universities and companies, led by UPA, have started to create the first online platform for farmers and livestock farmers, with the aim of improving generational change on farms. KHAOS will support the software development of this network.

The councillor Rogelio Velasco emphasises the contribution that the Khaos research group of the UMA has had in the achievement of this new milestone for the technology park.
